According to the USF web site, Stampede of Service is "the largest community service event in USF's history, a day completely devoted to participating in service, enjoying time with friends, and making a difference. It is not only an important campus tradition, but also a meaningful USF connection to the Tampa Bay community." One Million Bones Project
At their first meeting of the semester, the Mississippi State University Chapter took time to participate in the One Million Bones Project as a group. According to their website, One Million Bones is "a large-scale social arts practice, which means we use education and hands-on artmaking to raise awareness of genocides and atrocities going on around the world, this very day." With the beginning of a new semester, the Emporia State University Chapter got a jump-start on their fundraising by holding an event at Orange Leaf. The frozen yogurt company welcomes organizations such as SAL to hold percentage nights where a percentage of the profits go to the organization. The Arkansas State University celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a week-long celebration that included a performance at “Dallas Black Dance Theatre," a candlelight vigil, and more.
