Service Projects
The Emporia State University started off the semester with some great projects! Timothy Thomas, the President of the SAL chapter at Emporia State University, said, “Our goal and focus of this year is not to have senseless fun, but to be servant leaders and have fun doing it!”
Everyday Hero
The Everyday Hero Seminar was an event put on by SAL and other organizations at Emporia. Everyday Hero is a campaign to empower students to take a stand against Sexual Assault, Bullying, Hazing, Domestic Battery, Racism and Discrimination.
Mike Dielbeck, the featured speaker at Everyday Hero, spoke about how he was bullied as a child and how his best friend became his hero.
President vs. Food
SAL partnered with the Associated Student Government to put on an event called “President vs. Food.” Each month, the presidents of student organizations on campus go to a different restaurant to eat and compete in that restaurant’s eating competitions. 5% of the earnings from that night go toward a scholarship for a student.
The SAL President at Emporia, Timothy Thomas, took 2nd place in the eating competition!
