The most engaging and active leadership roles are filling the role of a Chapter officer. This is an opportunity to develop hands on experience in communication, project planning & execution, team building, and time management. Elections occur once per year, typically in early spring. Scholarships and Awards
Scholarships and Awards range from $100 to $5000 and are available for both undergraduate members as well as members furthering their academic endeavors through post-graduate study. Applications are available at the beginning of April each year and are due to the Scholarship Committee by the end of May. For more information, please view the Scholarship page.

SAL’s Emporia State University Chapter recently donated to and participated in Cradle to Career Literacy Center’s Scrabble competition, which was put on to raise money to help buy GED materials for their students. (more…)

Head Start Hats & Gloves
After learning that many ECKAN Head Start families did not have hats and gloves, the Emporia State University SAL Chapter decided to help. They purchased from Wal-Mart 50 hats and 50 gloves to give to Head Start. (more…)
Giving back to the campus and community is important to SAL. To support this focus, our chapter at Emporia State University has adopted a designated area of their campus to clean. Members and officers gather to pick up trash on a monthly basis, and it is an easy way for them to participate in their local chapter. (more…)
Orange Leaf Fundraiser
With the beginning of a new semester, the Emporia State University Chapter got a jump-start on their fundraising by holding an event at Orange Leaf. The frozen yogurt company welcomes organizations such as SAL to hold percentage nights where a percentage of the profits go to the organization. Several members and officers went to Orange Leaf to help out the night of the fundraiser. (more…)
In order to raise money to fund a trip to the National Collegiate Leadership Conference in Arizona, the Emporia State University Chapter held several fundraisers at Freddy’s, a local restaurant. At each fundraising night, 15% of the restaurant’s earnings went to the chapter. (more…)
