Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Day
SAL members from our University of Louisiana Lafayette Chapter recently volunteered at a local Habitat for Humanity build project!
Chapter President Peter Newton summarized the event and what it meant to their chapter: “Students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette had a special opportunity to build a home for a family in our local community. With the help of the Habitat staff, our team helped form the roof for this house. This was more than just a service project for Sigma Alpha Lambda here in Lafayette, it was a chance to make a difference in someone’s life. This project could not have come at a more perfect time. Over the past summer, Lafayette experienced a horrific act when a man open fired in our local movie theater. While the city was devastated, the overwhelming support and love from our community mended the pain. Our community and University take pride in Lafayette, and Sigma Alpha Lambda is so excited to be able to help the city that we call home.”
