The Polar Express
Sigma Alpha Lambda at University of Akron volunteers annually at The Polar Express. At The Polar Express, children arrive in their pajamas to board the train and listen to someone read The Polar Express story. Elves serve them cookies and hot chocolate while they ride. When they arrive at “The North Pole,” all the characters from the story act out their roles. This year, SAL members dressed up as elves and a gingerbread man. They acted their parts, excitedly smiling and waving to children who rode the train.
Chapter Secretary Victoria Kucek said, “Seeing the kids’ smiles and excitement made us smile. We were all so happy we could make their Christmas experience that much better.”
