Polar Express
The University of Akron Chapter had members participate in the Polar Express event at the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. SAL members volunteered to dress up as elves at the North Pole to help make children’s holiday dreams come true!
Each year the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad brings the award-winning Polar Express book to life by encouraging children to wear their pajamas and taking them on a train ride to the “North Pole” for a two-hour round trip to pick up Santa! Along the way the elves will read the story to you and after being picked up, Santa visits each car.
If it wasn’t for volunteers like the University of Akron SAL Chapter members, who give their time during the busy holiday season, this event wouldn’t be possible. Chapter members were really enthusiastic that they could be a part of making this a magical journey for all of the children.
