World AIDS Day
The El Centro College Chapter of Sigma Alpha Lambda collaborated with UT Southwestern Hospital and El Centro Health Center to commemorate World AIDS Day.
SAL members assisted the health center and UT Southwest with spreading awareness about AIDS. UT Southwestern provided free testing in the health center and provided other pertinent information. Following the event, a balloon release ceremony was held in remembrance of lost loved ones. Lastly, participants and UT Southwestern formed a human ribbon.
Chapter Historian Vanessa Martinez summarized, “Many were tested and received much needed information and support. Not only did the faculty, staff, and students get tested, but we had several people outside the school join in.”
