Jumpstart

Jumpstart is a program that partners university students with young children in South End preschools to deliver an innovative early learning program to the children. According to their website, “every child is born with the potential to succeed, but studies have shown that children from low-income backgrounds start kindergarten 60% behind their peers.” Jumpstart provides a high-quality, comprehensive program to develop children from low-income families to help them reach their full potential.

Jumpstart depends on the help of volunteers from universities such as Boston University to further their mission. Members from BU got together to help Jumpstart by making materials for classrooms. These materials included posters, cards, and flashcards that will be used in a variety of teaching activities. Members got to be creative and work together to make the materials that will be used to make a difference in the futures of the children that Jumpstart helps.
