Kids Carnival
The members at Arizona State University volunteered at a children’s carnival that was put on by New Horizon Performing Arts School. The carnival was to help them raise funds for the 4th-6th graders to go to camp in the spring and to help the other school age kids to be able to attend field trips. Over 200 people from the community attended. The event raised over $1000 and the SAL chapter was able to be a part of making that happen!
The members helped out in a variety of ways at the carnival. They sold tickets, food, snacks and more to the people attending the carnival. They also helped entertain the kids at the event by dancing and playing with them. Shaton Williams, the VP of Public Relations for the chapter, helped to plan the event because her daughters attend the school. She said “I really enjoyed the event because I love children and love seeing smiles on their faces. I also think events like this help to bridge the gap between the community and schools.”
