Global Youth Service Day
University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Chapter members recently volunteered as part of Global Youth Service Day!Members were assigned to prepare an elderly resident’s home for the summer. Their tasks included raking, trimming bushes, picking weeds, and sweeping up the patio area.
“We have been participating in this seasonal community service event for the past two years,” said Chapter President Lauren Meyer. “It is always a wonderful experience for everyone because all of the older residents are so appreciative of the work that we do. With this particular couple they were so impressed with how their yard looked after, and kept telling us how much they love having students help them out. It really is a great way to be involved and make a direct impact in the community!”
