JDRF Walk!
SAL members from the University of Arizona recently volunteered at the JDRF Walk! This walk is put on by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which raises money to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
Members arrived bright and early at 6:30 AM to help set up tables and tents for the event. About 1000-1500 people walked to support the foundation. Our chapter’s volunteers spent the morning handing out food to participants, helping at the photo booth, and doing a variety of volunteer tasks as needed.
Chapter President Brooke Campbell said of the service opportunity: “It was a really rewarding experience and everyone had a great time interacting with the walk participants while learning more about JDRF and Type 1 Diabetes. It was a great morning giving back to an organization that helps so many kids and families each year!”
