April 8, 2015, was our 2nd Annual Spring SAL Spirit Day! This day was promoted as an opportunity for chapters and individual members to share with their campus who SAL is and why they joined!
Several chapters set up one or more tables at a prominent spot on campus so they could get the word out about SAL and speak with any students who might be interested in membership. SAL koozies, pens and other goodies were given away, and many also provided snacks, sweets and drinks for those who stopped to learn more. Some chapters even used the opportunity to bring attention to and even raise funds for upcoming initiatives in which they would be participating, such as Relay for Life and walks for other causes. Some chapters also capped the day off by holding a social for their members!
Individual members showed their SAL spirit by wearing a variety of SAL t-shirts, hoodies and polos. If they didn’t have a SAL shirt or other SAL gear available, some sported our colors of navy/blue and gold/yellow to join in the fun and commemorate another successful SAL Spirit Day!
Maysoon Salem, Chapter President at Montclair State University, captured the spirit of the day well: “All in all, it was a great activity. We reached many students and had a great time doing so!”
