In order to share our love for animals, Sigma Alpha Lambda launched a new initiative in February 2019 supporting Best Friends. If you aren’t familiar with Best Friends, they are a phenomenal organization that supports animals and animal shelters across the country. According to their website, “At the core of Best Friends’ work is the dream that one day animals will no longer be killed in America’s shelters.”

Over the course of February, Sigma Alpha Lambda helped to raise close to $800 for Best Friends. SAL’s Kansas State University and University of Wisconsin Whitewater chapters played a huge role in reaching this total, with both groups hosting fundraising events at their colleges. In addition to raising money, SAL members found a variety of other ways to give back. For instance, SAL’s University of Georgia and Binghamton University chapters spent time making DIY animal toys. “We’re glad that the animals will have something fun to play with while they wait to be adopted!” said University of Georgia Chapter President Melody Koo.

Thank you for helping to support Best Friends and local animal shelters across the country. For more information on Best Friends, check out their website.
