Community Clean-Up
UWM collaborates with a local organization called Interfaith to help elderly residents in the area, and our SAL chapter there recently had the opportunity to contribute their services to this special part of their community.
SAL volunteers raked lawns, trimmed rose bushes and picked up trash that had accumulated over the winter. This kind of service means a lot to these residents because, for many, those tasks can be too physically demanding for them to do alone.
Recalled Chapter President Lauren Meyer, “It went very well; we had great chapter participation! Volunteering for a cause like this really reinforces how much participation within the community matters. We were able to help out two elderly residents, and the appreciation they had for what we did cannot be described in words.”
