Toys for Tots

The University of North Carolina Charlotte Chapter teamed up with the US Marines and the Piedmont Town Center for a tree lighting and holiday event. The goal of this event was to raise toys and money for Toys for Tots.

This event was a way for the community to come out and help the US Marines collect toys for kids in need. There were fun activities for families such as visiting with Santa and electric train rides; there were free or discounted foods at the surrounding restaurants and much more. The SAL chapter helped out in a number of ways, from escorting Santa around the event to making balloon animals, from helping with the horse and buggy and train rides to handing out candy canes.

The members also helped with the most important part of this event — collecting toys! They worked side-by-side with the Marines and collected the toys that people brought to donate. The event was a success! Many toys were collected and 100% of all funds raised were given to Toys for Tots.
