Welcome to Sigma Alpha Lambda Sigma Alpha Lambda is a National Leadership and Honors Organization dedicated to developing the individual and serving our campus and community. The mission of Sigma Alpha Lambda is to recognize members for academic achievement, to engage members in service, and to develop members for leadership. Service is the foundation of our leadership development model as well as the leadership of the organization itself. Through service, individuals look outside themselves and lives are changed, not only for the one being served but even more so for the one serving.   Statement of Purpose of Sigma Alpha Lambda To promote academic excellence at the chapter and national level and to encourage high academic achievement among school-aged children in our community. To engage university students, faculty, and staff as well as the surrounding community in meaningful, relevant service initiatives and raise awareness for worthwhile causes. To promote an understanding of the service model of leadership, to educate on the philosophy of leading through service, and to develop leaders to who incorporate service into their lives.

- Graduation
  Graduation items are available only to Members of Sigma Alpha Lambda. You must include your Member ID and Graduation Date. If you do not know your Member ID, email us at [email protected] and include your first and last name and what university you attend. Please check with your university regarding policies of what may be worn during commencement ceremonies before ordering. Graduation orders must be placed 2 weeks before graduation. Otherwise, please call 941.866.5614 x105.

Movie Night for TerpThon

Our University of Maryland College Park chapter held a movie night to support UMD’s TerpThon, a student-run organization that supports patients and families fighting pediatric illnesses.

SAL UMD invited students to view Monsters University together. Each participant’s donation to TerpThon included admission to the movie, snacks, and the pleasure of contributing to Children’s National, UMD’s local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. To boost attendance, “each officer identified a platform where they could showcase our TerpThon Movie Night flyer,” said chapter president Kaleigh Pikulsky. Their efforts and contributions worked: attendees donated $45 to the cause.

In addition to hosting movie night, SAL officers also encouraged members to raise funds to be eligible to participate in the TerpThon Dance Marathon. Together, SAL members at UMD are making a big impact on the lives of children and their families.
