Operation Christmas Child

The holiday spirit has filled the SAL chapter at University of Maryland Baltimore County. They joined together to listen to Christmas music and fill shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. To participate in OCC by Samaritan’s Purse, members collected small toys, candy, and hygiene items and packed them into shoeboxes. The boxes are sent to children in third world countries. SAL watched videos of last year’s children receiving their boxes while they filled this year’s boxes.

Paige Canova, UMBC’s Chapter President, expects this to become an annual event. “It’s so much fun, and very rewarding knowing the difference it can make to some child. Members enjoy it, and it’s not that much work,” she said. “It’s very fun selecting what toys you think someone would like and trying to make the best combination of gifts for the shoe boxes.”
