Craft Fair for a Cause
SAL members at University of Maine found a creative way to benefit students on campus and raise funds for a great cause.
They hosted a small craft fair on campus where students could create a booth or table to sell their homemade items. Crafters paid a tabling fee and attendees paid a small admission. Concessions were sold as well. All money collected from those fees went directly to the Maine Wabanaki Reach program. Crafters kept their profits from their products, but donated items to go into a raffle that incentivized more people to attend.
Caitlin Chambers, chapter president, said, “community connections were made, our chapter of SAL was made known to more people, and money was raised for our Wabanaki Reach cause.” We call that a success!
