Welcome to Sigma Alpha Lambda Sigma Alpha Lambda is a National Leadership and Honors Organization dedicated to developing the individual and serving our campus and community. The mission of Sigma Alpha Lambda is to recognize members for academic achievement, to engage members in service, and to develop members for leadership. Service is the foundation of our leadership development model as well as the leadership of the organization itself. Through service, individuals look outside themselves and lives are changed, not only for the one being served but even more so for the one serving. As a result of this process, the individual learns more about who they really are and what they value. Our Statement of Purpose and organization

  Statement of Purpose of Sigma Alpha Lambda To promote academic excellence at the chapter and national level and to encourage high academic achievement among school-aged children in our community. To engage university students, faculty, and staff as well as the surrounding community in meaningful, relevant service initiatives and raise awareness for worthwhile causes. To promote an understanding of the service model of leadership, to educate on the philosophy of leading through service, and to develop leaders to who incorporate service into their lives.

- Graduation
  Graduation items are available only to Members of Sigma Alpha Lambda. You must include your Member ID and Graduation Date. If you do not know your Member ID, email us at [email protected] and include your first and last name and what university you attend. Please check with your university regarding policies of what may be worn during commencement ceremonies before ordering. Graduation orders must be placed 2 weeks before graduation. Otherwise, please call 941.866.5614 x105.

ODU Brightens the Days of Senior Citizens

In a world of social distancing, finding ways to serve and connect with others in our communities is exceptionally difficult. Feelings of isolation are prevalent to many, especially for those in nursing homes. SAL members at Old Dominion University found a creative way to make a difference and connect with the seniors in their community.

ODU chapter members wrote letters to residents and staff at nursing homes to help motivate them during what many consider lonesome times. Chapter president, Camhuong Le, said that writing the letters “was an easy way for members to indirectly brighten up the day of those within our community”.

We are proud of our ODU chapter members and thank them for finding ways to connect with and serve their community.
