Tornado Relief & Spring Fest

New Mexico State University is one chapter who loves helping others. When member Rebecca Camacho approached the officers about a fundraiser to help the New Orleans tornado relief efforts, the officers jumped on board. Rebecca found an organization, Hands On New Orleans, through which they could donate money directly to the scene. The officers made delicious rice krispy treats, cupcakes, and cookies. Then the team worked together to host a bake sale. The wind did not want to cooperate with them on that day, but the team had the greatest attitude!

“I think my favorite part was trying to keep all our goodies from blowing away. The weather was not cooperating that day! But we were determined, and stuck it out for as long as we could. We would do it again for any member who has a cause he/she is passionate about,” said Jacqueline Figueroa, Chapter President.

Thankfully the weather cooperated for their most recent event, Spring Fest. This bustling event featured SAL members keeping the kiddie pools filled with water, monitoring the children who attended, and picking up trash visitors had dropped.
