Up ‘til Dawn for Cancer Research
In November, members of the Michigan State University Chapter participated in the St. Jude Up ‘til Dawn, a nationwide student-led philanthropic program in which college students raise funds for and awareness of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Up ’til Dawn is an event in which students stay up from midnight until 6 a.m. to prove that cancer does not sleep and neither will those who participate for the cause.
Eight Michigan State SAL chapter officers and members participated and raised $300 for this cause. Because of donations to St. Jude, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing and food. That’s something worth losing sleep over.
The Michigan State SAL members kept busy through the night playing games, painting motivational signs and participating in other teambuilding activities. In addition, several a cappella groups stopped by throughout the night to show their support and provide entertainment.
This chapter is looking forward to the event again this year and highly encourages other chapters around the country to participate during the 2015 fall semester. To find out how you can get involved, go to St. Jude Up ‘til Dawn.
