Welcome to Sigma Alpha Lambda Sigma Alpha Lambda is a National Leadership and Honors Organization dedicated to developing the individual and serving our campus and community. The mission of Sigma Alpha Lambda is to recognize members for academic achievement, to engage members in service, and to develop members for leadership. Service is the foundation of our leadership development model as well as the leadership of the organization itself. Through service, individuals look outside themselves and lives are changed, not only for the one being served but even more so for the one serving. As a result of this process, the individual learns more about who they really are and what they value. Our Statement of Purpose and organization

  Statement of Purpose of Sigma Alpha Lambda To promote academic excellence at the chapter and national level and to encourage high academic achievement among school-aged children in our community. To engage university students, faculty, and staff as well as the surrounding community in meaningful, relevant service initiatives and raise awareness for worthwhile causes. To promote an understanding of the service model of leadership, to educate on the philosophy of leading through service, and to develop leaders to who incorporate service into their lives.

  Graduation items are available only to Members of Sigma Alpha Lambda. You must include your Member ID and Graduation Date. If you do not know your Member ID, email us at [email protected] and include your first and last name and what university you attend. Please check with your university regarding policies of what may be worn during commencement ceremonies before ordering. Graduation orders must be placed 2 weeks before graduation. 9-11-01 Flag Memorial

Indiana State University SAL members placed flags around a popular area on campus to commemorate 9-11-01. The Flag Memorial Event aims to provide students with an opportunity to honor those who lives were lost due to the events of that day. This year marked 20 years since the USA lost so many of our own, making this year’s memorial even more special. Members placed the flags in two different areas near Hulman Memorial Student Union which is the center point for where students normally gather and socialize.

“This memorial event means a lot to the students because we are recognizing fallen soldiers and bringing awareness to the Terre Haute Community,” said Melodie Figueroa, chapter president at ISU. For more information on SAL at Indiana State University, click here.
