JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes

The chapter at Grand Valley State University hit the ground running this semester with a lot of great ways for members to get involved, including participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Relief Fund’s Walk to Cure Diabetes. This national event holds walks all over the country to raise money to help people living with Type 1 Diabetes. The funds raised help to fund research for new treatments, raise awareness and better the lives of people living with diabetes.

The members were able to volunteer help the walk run smoothly. They arrived early to help with the set up and stayed throughout the walk to guide the participants, cheer the walkers on and provide instructions to the walkers when necessary. This was the second year that the chapter has helped with the walk and the JDRF staff was very happy to have them back!

Amanda Bernard, Chapter Vice President, said about the event, “It was a beautiful day to help out for a great cause! JDRF was very excited to have our help for the second year in a row and they could not be nicer to our volunteers. We are looking forward to the event next year!”
