Make a Difference Day

Make a Difference Day is the nation’s largest day of service. People come together all over the country to volunteer in a number of ways to make a difference in their community. The SAL chapter at Grand Valley State University joined several other organizations to participate in the event this year.

The SAL membes were assigned to work on beautifying the Kent County parks. At the beginning of the day, they were bussed to Millennium Park in Grand Rapids. The members walked along the beautiful paths while picking up trash and brushing shrubs back into the brush. The rest of the day was spent planting seeds around the ponds.

This project was a great way for members to make a visible difference in their community. At the end of the day, they felt like they had done something to make their community a better place to live.
