The Big Event
The Big Event is a nation-wide, student-run service project in which a number of SAL chapters participate. This Spring, the Florida State University Chapter brought together a group of members to volunteer at the Big Event. This year, FSU teamed up with Tallahassee Community College and Florida A&M University to say a big “thank you” to the residents of Tallahassee.
Volunteers at the Big Event worked on a number of projects to beautify and cleanup their community. They cleaned up parks and roads, built new parks, and sorted donated clothes, toys and kitchen items. Raven Hill, Chapter President at Florida State University, said that this event “represents everything that SAL stands for.” The members were happy to be able to do something to help the residents of the community where they go to school.
