Helping Chintsa’s Shoeless Walkathon

SAL’s Binghamton University Chapter co-sponsored a shoeless walkathon for raising money to buy shoes for children in South Africa who don’t have any!

The walkathon was five dollars for every lap. Nine members signed up at their chapter meeting to be there, but more members may have decided to attend. The walkathon was pretty large so they did not take attendance of the members that came, but collaborating with others on campus and seeing such a great turnout showed them what teamwork and a worthy cause can do to bring others together.

According to Chapter President Laura Senande, “It was nice to cosponsor an event with another organization; it was good to get our name out there. We met members from other organizations as well as some of our own. It was overall a good activity!”
