Habitat for Humanity
Participating in Habitat for Humanity is something the University of Alabama Birmingham SAL chapter has wanted to do for a while. Fortunately for them, they received the opportunity this semester. Members sorted merchandise for two days at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. They moved furniture, organized shelves, and unpacked boxes. SAL volunteers were able to talk to other volunteers who had been recipients of Habitat for Humanity homes.
“The cycle of service was really neat to us, and we liked meeting individuals who had benefited from and were serving this great organization,” said Chapter President Harper Goodman. “We are already planning another service project with Habitat for Humanity for the Spring.”
