Walk to End Alzheimer’s & Peek of Las Cruces

This was the first year New Mexico State University’s SAL chapter participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This event was special to most members because they had been affected by a friend or family member with this disease. Chapter President Jaqueline Figueroa is working toward her doctorate in neuroscience to better understand the process involved in degenerative diseases.

“For a lot of us this was a big deal to show our support, and donate toward this important research. I hope our chapter continues to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event for years to come,” said Jacqueline.

NMSU’s service this month did not end there. The chapter also attended a fun Peek of Las Cruces. Members either participated in volunteering for the event or helping build a structure with the donated food items for the AGGIE Cupboard Challenge. All of the food was later turned in to AGGIE Cupboard. Volunteers received a free t-shirt for volunteering for the day.
