Family Shelter Donations
SAL Members at University of Southern Mississippi put their kindness in action by hosting a donation drive to benefit Fieldhouse for the Homeless and Domestic Abuse Family Shelter. VP of Community Service Jennifer Lewis took the lead on this project for SAL, joining with several other organizations on campus. She made multiple trips back and forth to the shelter delivering the numerous donations. The campus groups advertised for donations of toiletries, clothing, gift cards, and money, and people in the community were generous. They collected over $400 and delivered 36 bags and 9 boxes worth of items. They were even featured in a local news story.
“Those items that you might not need might make all the difference in the life of someone with nothing,” says Lewis, who is planning another drive due to this one’s success.
