Meals on Wheels
The Grand Valley State University SAL chapter volunteered by packing food at Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels delivers nutritious meals to senior citizens in almost every community of America. Hundreds of thousands of volunteers are needed to cook, package, and deliver meals to millions of seniors living alone. Over the past year, the organization delivered 19 million more meals to over one million more senior citizens. SAL members were a big help as they joined in the assembly line to package meals.
Chapter President Autumn Espinoza believed that they packaged hundreds of meals during their volunteer shift. “It is great knowing that we contributed to helping keep local seniors from going hungry, especially during the time of the pandemic,” she said.
