Sigma Alpha Lambda has teamed up with the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) as a part of the MLK Day Service Network. In doing so, Sigma Alpha Lambda members have the opportunity to connect with local MLK Day projects each January.Members can earn a SAL certificate of achievement for their participation in serving their local campus and community. The Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday is a national day of service. Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, the MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a “day on…not a day off”. It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together and serve. Service is an important part of the mission of Sigma Alpha Lambda and this initiative allows SAL members a chance to start their year off making a difference in the lives of others.
