The most engaging and active leadership roles are filling the role of a Chapter officer. This is an opportunity to develop hands on experience in communication, project planning & execution, team building, and time management. Elections occur once per year, typically in early spring. Scholarships and Awards
Scholarships and Awards range from $100 to $5000 and are available for both undergraduate members as well as members furthering their academic endeavors through post-graduate study. Applications are available at the beginning of April each year and are due to the Scholarship Committee by the end of May. For more information, please view the Scholarship page.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s & Peek of Las Cruces
This was the first year New Mexico State University’s SAL chapter participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This event was special to most members because they had been affected by a friend or family member with this disease. (more…)

The Big Event Service Initiative
Each year, students across the country participate in the Big Event, a strategic and organized initiative that was created as a way for students to say thank-you to their local communities by performing acts of service. Several SAL chapters were a part of the movement this year. (more…)
New Mexico State University SAL members recently visited a local nursing home to play games, make a craft, and paint. They helped the residents make flowers out of tissue paper and enjoyed talking with the elderly in the home. (more…)
