Spring 2007 Outstanding Advisor Mrs. Brenda Crouse Chapter Advisor Youngstown State University
I have had the honor to work with Brenda Crouse since 2004. She has been an outstanding leader as the Advisor for Sigma Alpha Lambda National Honor Society at Youngstown State University.
To begin, I would like to bring to light the teamwork ability that she has brought with her to the chapter. When we first worked to get Sigma Alpha Lambda recognized on Youngstown State University’s campus, it was very hard. In fall of 2004, Brenda and I spent many afternoons on the phone and in her office reviewing paperwork. Through the process of filling out paperwork, she voluntarily dedicated many hours of her time to sit with me, and several founding officers to discuss where our chapter status stood with the National Office and Youngstown State University. Mrs. Crouse related well to everyone and was an excellent teammate and team leader.
Another attribute I would like to recognize in regards to Mrs. Crouse’s leadership ability, is her dedication and teamwork in planning our Welcome Ceremonies. Every semester since Fall 2005, Mrs. Crouse has lead our chapter in developing a successful Welcome Ceremony. She has taken a leadership role, and communicated with the National Office in obtaining gifts, supplies, and money to successfully hold our Welcome Ceremony. She dedicates her time to our officers, which allows us to understand exactly what steps need to be completed.
Brenda is great communicator. Even though she is a great leader, she puts herself on a student's level. When it comes to Sigma Alpha Lambda, Mrs. Crouse is always patient and supportive and helps keep our officers on track.
Mrs. Crouse voluntarily dedicates her time to meet with individual officers, officers as a group, and the chapter. She also meets with officers in planning meetings and our Welcome Ceremony. Since our Welcome Ceremony is the biggest event every semester for our chapter, she provides a lot of service in preparation and in executing this.
Overall, Mrs. Crouse has fulfilled exactly what SAL stands for. The letters “S-A-L” are not only the initials for Sigma Alpha Lambda, but they also stand for Service, Achievement, and Leadership, which Brenda has exhibited throughout the three years I have worked with her.
