Backpack Beginnings

UNCG members of Sigma Alpha Lambda had a fun time volunteering with Backpack Beginnings! Members and officers packed school lunches for underprivileged children and also stuffed backpacks with school supplies, toys, and clothing to give to the children who would not otherwise have those items. The chapter served at the Backpack Beginnings Center on MLK Day of Service in January and enjoyed themselves so much they decided to help again!

Chapter President Elsie Okoh-Addo said of the event, “The best part of volunteering at this site is the fun atmosphere. There’s music playing in the background as you work so it doesn’t really feel like much work. We enjoyed working efficiently together as we packed school supplies, toys and gifts into each backpack for a child somewhere to enjoy!”
