Food Fight Against Hunger

SAL members at University of Central Oklahoma had an incredible Food Fight for Hunger. Members donated food, money and time to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The money and food were raised throughout the entire Fall semester through meetings and events. Members who donated were given coupons for a free game of bowling (donated by a local alley).  On two Saturdays, SAL members set up a day-long booth outside of a local grocery store to collect cash or food. This chapter of SAL also joined with another honor society on UCO’s campus in a friendly competition to raise a greater amount of nonperishable items. For the week of October 30 through November 5, SAL joined with eight other organizations at UCO in a state wide competition for colleges.  Lastly, UCO’s Food Fight for Hunger consisted of a movie night. After working hard to collect the donations, SAL members volunteered an afternoon at the Regional Food Bank sacking potatoes.

After all of their hard work, UCO’s SAL chapter received over 7000 pounds of food and more than $1200 in donations.  Way to go!
