One of the best times for Sigma Alpha Lambda members to serve others is Valentine’s Day. This year, several chapters took the opportunity to spread cheer and love.

Boston University’s chapter decorated cards for hospitalized children. James Madison University’s chapter also made cards for hospitalized children and then for residents at a community retirement home. Some messages included, “you’re just my type” with a picture of a type-writer, “bee mine” and other messages like “you are awesome!” and “be brave!” Murray State University members also made cards for a local nursing home. Indiana State University’s chapter held a Valentine’s Day bake sale. They raised a good deal of money by catering to everyone’s sweet tooth on that day.

University of North Carolina Wilmington members volunteered with Young at Heart, a Valentine’s Day themed social for senior adults in the Wilmington community. They assisted with the live band, refreshments and, most importantly, dancing!

Valdosta State University SAL members made cards that were delivered to a local medical center and distributed to patients of all ages. “Instead of focusing on having a Valentine, we got to be someone else’s,” said Chapter President Alexus Mathis.

Thank you, SAL members, for your time and love this Valentine’s Day!
