Cradles to Crayons

For the past few years Cradles to Crayons has been a favorite nonprofit for SAL members at Boston University. On the most recent trip, SAL joined with Boston University’s Asian American Christian Fellowship to inspect and package donated necessities for children from low-income families throughout Massachusetts. In just two hours, volunteers were able to provide 117 children with customized packages of books, clothes, shoes, and hygiene items – essentials to thrive at home, at school, and at play. Volunteers were also able to meet and bond with AACF members in an attempt to bridge social gaps between BU’s student organizations.

Chapter President Lena Ho’s favorite part was selecting the children’s clothes and realizing they are going to be warm this winter. Jamie Tam, a recently graduated officer, most enjoyed picking out the items for each child according to their age and adding some personality to each package.

SAL volunteers look forward to participating with this organization again and hopefully including even more student organizations in the process.
