Miles for Matias Walk

The Binghamton University Chapter volunteered to help another organization at their school, Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, to put on the “Miles for Matias Walk.”  The walk is in its third year and benefits multiple sclerosis research in memory of a former Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity Brother, Tom Matias, who also suffered from multiple sclerosis.  The money raised will go toward the Stony Brook University Hospital where Matias worked prior to his passing.

As a result of having more than 10 members from SAL signed up for the walk, the chapter was able to be a Co-Sponsor for the event.  Many organizations took part in the walk and $1950 was raised in just 1 hour!  Participating in the walk was a way for SAL members and their fellow students to honor Tom Matias’ memory and raise money to benefit a great cause.
