Leadership Opportunities

The most engaging and active leadership roles are filling the role of a Chapter officer. This is an opportunity to develop hands on experience in communication, project planning & execution, team building, and time management. Elections occur once per year, typically in early spring. Card-Making for a Cause

A recurring theme we are seeing with several of our chapters this year is gathering together or even using part of an already scheduled chapter meeting to make cards for hospitalized children and others that may not get to spend certain holidays in the way they would desire.

Superhero Penny Wars Fundraising is a great way for SAL Chapters to get creative and get people together for a meaningful cause. The Indiana University of Pennsylvania Chapter held a “Superhero Penny War”  competition  to raise money for both the American Cancer Society and their SAL chapter.

Highway Clean-up Every state has an Adopt-a-Highway program, which is a great way to make a visible difference in the community.  Many SAL chapters take the opportunity to adopt a road or lot and regularly organize clean-ups to keep it litter-free.  The SAL chapter at Indiana University of Pennsylvania works together to clean up a section of highway near the school.

Capture the Flag Fundraiser The Indiana University of Pennsylvania Chapter came together to raise money for the Lazarus Effect while playing a fun game.  Members and their friends formed teams for a campus-wide game of Capture the Flag.  Four teams competed to win a prize.
