Leadership Opportunities

The most engaging and active leadership roles are filling the role of a Chapter officer. This is an opportunity to develop hands on experience in communication, project planning & execution, team building, and time management. Elections occur once per year, typically in early spring. Click here to read a brief description of each officer position.

Scholarships and Awards

Scholarships and Awards range from $100 to $5000 and are available for both undergraduate members as well as members furthering their academic endeavors through post-graduate study. Applications are available at the beginning of April each year and are due to the Scholarship Committee by the end of May. For more information, please view the Scholarship page.

Big Bend Homeless Coalition

The Florida State University Chapter of SAL has always wanted to help at Big Bend Homeless Coalition.  They recently had their chance to volunteer and make an impact by preparing a meal. (more…)


The Big Event

The Big Event is a nation-wide, student-run service project in which a number of SAL chapters participate. This Spring, the Florida State University Chapter brought together a group of members to volunteer at the Big Event. This year, FSU teamed up with Tallahassee Community College and Florida A&M University to say a big “thank you” to the residents of Tallahassee. (more…)

FSU Rez Social

The Florida State University Chapter finished up their semester with a trip to the FSU Rez for a social. The Rez is short for the Florida State University Reservation, a place for students to enjoy many outdoor activities near beautiful Lake Bradford.  (more…)

Feeding the Homeless

The FSU Chapter went to Big Bend Homeless Coalition to make a meal for the homeless. This homeless shelter is different from the rest, because they house 100 homeless people for 6 months in order to get them on their feet through helping them find a job and a place to live. They also provide meals, thanks to volunteers who come and prepare food for the residents.  (more…)

Boys and Girls Club Outreach

The SAL chapter at FSU wanted to be able to make a difference in the lives of kids in their community. They went to the Boys and Girls Club to provide the kids there with a day of fun. They brought a bounce house and food and spent several hours playing with the kids. (more…)
